Picot (p / picot)
Chart symbol: a small trefoil bump Counting: makes nothing that gets worked later, uses nothing.
How to work it
The standard 3-chain picot:
- Chain 3.
- Slip stitch into the top of the stitch you just made (or into the third chain from the hook).
A decorative bump that rides the edge. It produces no new stitch for the next round, which is why pattern stitch counts skip right over it.
Other names for the same stitch
- Modern: picot, p.
- Antique: "p." (1910s lace books use it constantly).
Where you'll meet it
