Slip stitch (sl st)

Chart symbol: a filled dot Counting: makes 1 (a very short one), uses 1.

How to work it

  1. Insert the hook into the next stitch.
  2. Yarn over, draw through the stitch AND the loop on your hook in one move.

The shortest stitch there is. It adds almost no height, which is exactly why patterns use it: to travel across stitches invisibly, to join a round closed, or to finish an edge.

Where you'll meet it
